Christmas book recommendation

I just finished the book THE SPY WHO CAME FOR CHRISTMAS by David Morrell. It was very good, and an excellent mix of a spy thriller and a Christmas story. If you like spy thrillers, this is a good one. It's also nice and short.

Book Recommendation

I just finished an EXCELLENT book. FIRST DROP by Zoe Sharp. The main character is a British ex-army bodyguard named Charlie Fox. She's on (basically) her first assignment in Florida. A suspense/thriller, this was a very good read. Comparable to Lee Child's Jack Reacher, only female. And with more luggage. (How can a guy travel the country and not even carry extra underwear?) (Although, now that I think about it, she's on the run through this entire book and rarely gets to change clothes.) Anyway, I highly recommend this book. My only problem with it is that, apparently, it's the third in the series, but the first to be available in the US. So I'm going to have to figure out a way to track down the first three. I.L.L., here I come. :)

IN THE BLEAK MIDWINTER

IN THE BLEAK MIDWINTER by Julia Spencer-Fleming is one of the best first mystery novels out there. It's the first in the series, and a truly excellent read. I am almost finished with the third in the series, and I find while the style is completely different, the quality level is on par with Sue Grafton. I highly recommend this series, and I strongly suggest that you start with this, the first book.

AUDREY WAIT by Robin Benway

I couldn't put this book down. It was hilarious, and a very compulsive read. I recommend it to anyone who likes a good book and can handle a teen book full of adult themes and language. And who has a good sense of humor.

recommended cozy mystery

I just finished a good book. CONSIGNED TO DEATH by Jane K. Cleland is a cozy mystery that takes place in the New Hampshire antiques business. It's very well done for a debut, and I'm looking forward to reading the sequels.

forthcoming fiction

greetings! i've decided to try blogging as a way of keeping up with my forthcoming books. i'm going to keep track anyway, for my own sake, so it isn't that much work keeping track for you, too. i'm not, however, going to go the extra mile like i used to. the books posted in this blog are only going to be scheduled releases. i'll update with relevant books, book recommendations, maybe even the occasional book rant, but i'm not going to check the St. Louis County Library catalog to see if these books are on order. that's up to you. you'll have to make your own list of books to keep track of. (don't bother checking more than four months in advance. they library doesn't usually order books beyond that point.) my second posting will be the master list that i've used for oh-so many years. everything after that will be updates. leave a comment or email me if you have any questions or remarks.
